Cornwall Park is an important green space for birds travelling to other reserves, the North West Wildlink and the Waitakere or Hunua Ranges. Most birds can only fly 2.5km at a time so need places to rest and feed on the way. Cornwall Park provides a central location for birds such as kererū, tūi, silvereye and occasionall kākā that move around the Auckland region.
